Authentic Fabergé 18k yellow gold heart locket – light blue guilloche enamel, 4 diamonds 0,075 ct G/IF with original certificate of authenticity.

This locket features a “fleur the lys” – the heraldic symbol has been used by French royalty and throughout history to represent Catholic saints of France. In particular, the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph are often depicted with a lily. The fleur-de-lis has been used in the heraldry of numerous European nations, but is particularly associated with France, notably during its mo-narchical period. As France is a historically Catholic nation, the fleur-de-lis became “at one and the same time, religious, political, dynastic, artistic, emblematic, and symbolic,” especially in French heraldry. Carl Fabergé created a series of jewellery items decorated with this classic symbol around the turn from the 18th to the 19th century.

A special feature of this piece of jewellery are the fine ornaments made of gold inlaid into the enamel. These so-called “paillons” are a real rarity and make this piece of jewellery a real collector”s item.
