Within Chinese culture, the tiger is one of the most revered beasts. The third to feature in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac, the tiger is considered the king of all beasts. Beyond this generalization of the beast, the tiger is also seen as a symbol of strength and bravery.
Tigers are the largest living cats today and are members of the Panthera genus, a genetic grouping within the family Felidae that includes tigers, lions, jaguars, and leopards. The classification of these beasts within the Panthera genus is based on the cranial features of the cats, with the snow leopard variant the only member of the genus that cannot roar.
A tiger is featured on the obverse of 10 Gram Argor-Heraeus Lunar Tiger Gold Bars. This design shows a large, muscular tiger on the prowl as it tracks down its next prey. Historically, tigers roamed from the Anatolia Region in eastern Turkey to the Amur River in the east, the foothills of the Himalayas, Bali, and into far Northeastern Russia, China, and the Korean peninsula. Today, tigers inhabit just 7% of the land they did at the start of the 20th century.
For the reverse design of 10 Gram Lunar Tiger Gold Bars, the mint features its logo at the top. All inscriptions and designs are arranged vertically down the face of the bar, with the logo at the top, the weight, purity, and metal content in the center, and the assayer’s mark at the bottom with the individual serial number.
These 10 Gram Argor-Heraeus Lunar Tiger Gold Bars are available with individual blisterpacks. The protective blisterpacks hold the bar and an assay card within, with the assay offering all of the authentication details for the bar, including a matching serial number from the bar.
