Austrian Philharmonic Coins were introduced by the Austrian Mint in 1989 as a gold bullion option. It was nearly another decade before the silver version was introduced, but the same designs used on the gold coin were introduced on the silver coin. Designed by Thomas Pesendorfer, the Chief Engraver of the Austrian Mint developed a design honoring the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Vienna Philharmonic has its roots in the occasional performances of an orchestral group in Vienna, Austria starting as early as 1830. By 1842, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra had formed a formal group that continues to perform to this day.

On the obverse of the 2018 Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coin includes the image of the Great Organ, which is found inside of the Musikverein Golden Hall. This is where the Philharmonic plays music and is located within the city of Vienna, the national capital of Austria.

The reverse of 2018 Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coin features the selection of musical instruments used to reflect those played by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. There are eight instruments featured, including a cello, violins, Vienna horn, bassoon, and a harp.

All 2018 Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coins in this listing are in BU condition. Coins in this condition show no signs of wear and tear, though flaws resulting from the striking of blanks can present in the finished product. These minor flaws include breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks.

In this listing, you can purchase a bulk order of Silver Philharmonics. These silver coins are packaged in a Monster Box totaling 500 coins, or 500 Troy oz of .999 pure silver. Each grouping of coins is found within tubes of 20 coins, with 25 tubes in total packaged in the box.
