Description

2021 (S) American Silver Eagle Monster Box (500 Coins, BU, Type 1)

The 2021 release of 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins from the United States Mint represents the 35th anniversary in the vaunted series. In addition to being an anniversary date mark for the collection, 2021 is poised to be the most unique to date as the US Mint will release the 2021 Silver Eagles with two separate design combinations. The first releases of 2021 Silver Eagles continue with the existing Walking Liberty-Heraldic Eagle designs, while mid2021 will see the release of a new reverse design, pairing Walking Liberty with a new eagle-inflight design. Today, 2021 (S) American Silver Eagle Monster Boxes are available to you online for immediate purchase.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to you inside of US Mint Monster Boxes with 500 coins!
  • 35th anniversary in the American Silver Eagle Series!
  • Contains 500 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • The individual face values of $1 (USD) are fully backed by the US government.
  • On the obverse is Walking Liberty.
  • The reverse features the heraldic eagle design for the final time.

The US Mint’s plan to introduce a new reverse design into the series was first announced in late 2019. Though no designs were chosen or even available to compare at that time, the US Mint viewed the 35th anniversary as the perfect time to reinvent the imagery of the coin on at least one side. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout 2020 threw a wrench in the plan to release the new design with the first release of 2021-dated Silver Eagles, resulting in the continued use of the existing Heraldic Eagle through midyear.

All of these 2021 (S) American Silver Eagle Monster Boxes contain a total of 500 Silver Eagles. Each one of the coins is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with a 2021 date mark featured on the obverse of the coins. The Monster Box contains a total of 25 individual US Mint acrylic tubes, with each tube holding a total of 20 coins.

2021 (S) Silver Eagle Monster Boxes were produced by the San Francisco Mint as part of supplemental, supportive coining to meet demand. You will not find an “S” mint mark on the coins. Rather, the Monster Box is identifiable as a San Francisco Mint product using US Mint tracking numbers and straps that enclose the box.

On the obverse of 2021 American Silver Eagle Coins is the image of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this image features Lady Liberty in left-profile relief as her figure walks across the ground toward the sun on the horizon. She reaches out with her right hand for the sun while carrying the American flag over her shoulders.

The reverse side of 2021 (S) American Silver Eagles comes with the heraldic eagle design. Modernized for the series in 1986 by John Mercanti, this is the last date mark that will feature the long-running image. The heraldic eagle features a bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield, arrows of war, and olive branch of peace in the design.
