The American Palladium Eagle Coins debuted in 2017 with a Brilliant Uncirculated version available. The following year, the US Mint issued the Palladium Eagle as a traditional proof coin. The 2019 release brought more change with the release of a Reverse Proof specimen. That coin had the highest mintage figure in the series to date, including the mintage for these 2020 coins, and is the best-selling coin so far in the series.

Winged Liberty is found on the obverse side of 2020-W Burnished American Palladium Eagle Coins. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, the image features Lady Liberty in left-profile relief with a winged Phrygian cap. Known as Winged Liberty, this design featured on the US dime from 1916 to 1945.

An American bald eagle is featured in the reverse design of the 2020-W Burnished Palladium Eagle Coins. The bald eagle shown here was also designed by Weinman in the early 20^th century and was concept art for the 1907 American Institute of Architects gold medal. The design shows a bald eagle with wings raised and a laurel branch on the cliff in its clutches.
