The obverse of the 2009 20 oz 20th Anniversary Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin features the great pipe organ from Musikverein, a prestigious concert hall established in Vienna. The pipe organ is a fixed musical instrument built into the concert hall where the orchestra performs. The obverse also includes the inscription “REPUBLIK OSTERREICH”, the face value of the coin, the weight and purity of the coin, and the coin’s year.
