Known as Lady Liberty, the Statue of Liberty, or simply as Liberty, this symbol of American freedom and democracy was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. Construction on the copper statue began in 1875 and was completed in 1886, and was given to the United States of America as a gift from the people of France.

Credit Suisse, one of the largest refiners of gold in the world today, struck these 20 Gram Liberty Gold Bars with the impressive depiction of Lady Liberty as she looks out over the Atlantic Ocean. The reverse face of the bar features Liberty looking forward, her right hand raised high in the air and her crown of freedom upon her head. The word “Liberty” is boldly engraved on the lower portion of the bar.

The obverse face includes a variety of engravings identifying the bar’s characteristics and the issuer. The Credit Suisse logo is featured at the top, and followed in sequential order by the weight, metal content, and purity of the bar. Below those are marks for the assayer and the individual serial number of the bar.

Originally founded in 1856, Credit Suisse is the oldest refinery and financial institution in Switzerland. Today the company has a global footprint that includes branches and locations in the United States, South America, and Asia outside of its European base.
