Proof American Silver Eagle coins were introduced in 1986 alongside the bullion coins. Following passage of the Liberty Coin Act of 1985, the United States Mint began production of Silver Eagle coins using silver stored from the Defense National Stockpile. Each coin in the series, whether it is bullion, proof, or uncirculated, contains only silver sourced from within the US.

On the obverse side is the image of Lady Liberty as first featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916. The reverse side bears John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle design, created specifically for the Silver Eagle series.

The United States Mint has produced its Proof American Silver Eagles at all of its minting facilities throughout the years, with the exception of the Denver Mint. Although primary production is done at the West Point Mint, San Francisco and Philadelphia contribute to the production of special-issue coins.

Please note that this set will not include the 1995-W coin – it will include a different 1995 mint-mark. Certain years have multiple mint marks available for proof coins, so we cannot guarantee any mint marks on the coins in this set.
